Key Points
Advice can be incredibly helpful. The challenge is when it becomes our automatic response. When we jump straight into giving advice, it turns into a habit rather than a thoughtful choice.
Often when advice misses the mark, it’s because we’re trying to solve the wrong problem. Even with the best intentions, our advice isn’t always as useful as we think and it can accidentally get in the way of good leadership.
The real opportunity is learning to quiet our “advice monster” so we can stay curious, listen longer, and show up in a more coach-like way. That’s where stronger conversations and stronger relationships really happen.
